Easy Day Thailands Francesco on Koh Rok Island Tour Inspection
Easy Day’s Francesco on Koh Rok Island

Koh Rok is a little archipelago made of two “sister” islands located south of Koh Lanta, approximately 110 Km straight south east of Phuket.
After all the guests were transferred from their hotels, the speedboat departed from Royal Phuket Marina on time around 7:30. After cruising for little over an hour we had the first stop of the itinerary at Pileh Lagoon, on Phi Phi Leh Island National Park. Here there is about half an hour break where people can have a refreshing swim and enjoy he beautiful surrounding views, this short stop is a good way to avoid a very long cruise straight to Koh Rok and also allows to see a bit of the famous Phi Phi Islands.

Back on board we cruised for another hour and finally reached Koh Rok, with the first stop being at Rok Nok Island on the northern side. The Island has a little camping and service area on the land with the National Park base, all the rest is beautiful white beach and crystal clear water. What really surprised me is that despite being a very busy time of the year and such a nice place, it was not crowded at all. Here we had about 45 minutes free time to enjoy the beach or swim at leisure, then back on the speedboat we went to the first snorkeling session of the day at Koh Rok Nai, the second one on the southern side. The guides carefully selected the least crowded snorkeling site, in fact we were the only boat moored there. The reef is the healthiest I’ve ever seen in Thailand and the water is as clear as it can be, so clear that you can actually look at the corals from the boat without even getting in the water!
I have visited many of the beautiful islands in Thailand, but I have to admit that this is really hard to beat.

Once back on board the boat moved to a quiet corner of beach on the same island, we were the only boat and the only people there, it was like having our own piece of Paradise. Here is also where the pic-nic style buffet lunch is served, there was a choice of 5 different tasty Thai dishes. Each couple was also given a large mat to lay on the sand and the many trees provided plenty of shades for everybody. Here we got about two hours free time to relax at leisure, swim, get sun burn 🙂

Back on board after this lovely siesta we moved towards the last stop of the day, the beautiful Koh Haa (Five Islands) archipelago. This is about 45 minutes from Koh Rok ont he way back to Phuket, and it’s another natural jewel, again with crystal clear water and great snorkeling. Here we had nearly 1 hour to swim and snorkel, then we finally headed back to Phuket, after about 90 minutes navigation. We reached Royal Phuket Marina around 17:30 hrs, after a long but fantastic day in the sea.

If you are looking for a corner of Paradise with beautiful uncrowded beaches, great snorkeling and don’t mind long boat rides this is the tour to book without second thoughts. It’s a long day but very well balanced timing with plenty of beach/relax time alternated to swimming and snorkeling. All the different language speaking guides on board are very friendly and helpful too.
