Baracudas at Koh Racha Noi

Koh Racha Noi, or Raya Noi as is it sometimes spelled, is an uninhabited island south of Koh Phuket Island and south of Racha Yai. It is a granite rock island which helps keep the surrounding waters crystal clear.

There are several dive sites on all sides of the island and where we choose to dive is largely dependent on the weather and the currents. The bays on the east coast offer relaxed diving on shallow sloping reefs. Banana Bay is a large curved bay with patch hard corals on a white sand seabed. It is home to large schools of fish and is a very popular dive.

The west coast is more rocky with lots of submerged boulders forming swim-throughs and beautiful underwater seascapes.

South Plateau can only be dived when conditions are ideal or with experienced divers. Strong currents can make this a challenging dive site but well worth it when you see manta rays feeding at the feeding station.

North Point can also be tricky with strong currents that can sometimes act as a high speed elevator pulling divers up and down. However if approached from the right direction the rocks provide shelter and allow divers to see schools of barracuda and other large fish.
